St Brigid's Catholic Primary School
Sitting just above the waters of the Derwent River at New Norfolk St Brigid's School has a glorious view of the Valley. Built around a beautiful old building (Cill Dara - line drawing above) the School is part of the Catholic Education System in Tasmania and provides the children of the Derwent Valley with an excellent standard of education.
Originally staffed by the Sisters of Charity and, later, under the care of the Presentation Sisters, the school is now under the guidance of Mr Sean Gill. The school continues to provide a wide range of education options for the children.
The Presentation Sisters retain a presence with Sr Janet Sexton working as the Religious Education Co-ordinator within the school.
